Inside my
My professional background consists of nearly a decade of teaching experience, having taught over 3000+ learners, ages 4-90. I currently work as instructional design assistant at Brigham Young University Continuing Education. In my three years at BYU, I’ve worked with high school, university, and professional development teams whilst learning from masters in the field of instructional design. In my undergraduate degree, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, alongside a minor in Design Thinking from BYU’s Instructional Psychology and Technology department. I was project manager for an evaluation project for BYU-Pathway Missionary Field Support to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of their training processes, communication methodologies, and website usability. As part of a team working for EnglishConnect, I was a key researcher and designer helping develop a prototype English language development app for learners with no prior experience in the language and minimal access to the internet. I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in Instructional Psychology and Technology at BYU.
Personally, I’ve always loved building with technology. I started with building computers and coding video games, took a detour through mechanical engineering, and found myself and my purpose while designing online learning experiences. I love to take advantage of the latest technological advances to create stunning visuals combined with engaging, accessible, and inclusive content. My goal as an instructional designer is to help people, one-by-one, become their best self through learning how to learn and how to apply that knowledge through competency-based education. I love to put myself in the shoes of my learners and puzzle out their inner wants and needs.
